GHAMRO assigns every registered member a unique Interested Party Information (IPI) number as part of its commitment to protecting music creators and publishers. The number is issued through CISAC, the international network that connects authors' societies around the world.
What Is An IPI Number?
An IPI number is a 9 to 11 digit international identifier for songwriters, composers, and music publishers. It helps rights organizations identify the correct rights holder and make sure royalties are allocated accurately.
Why It Matters
Names can be repeated across the music industry, so the IPI number separates one creator or publisher from another. This protects attribution, improves royalty tracking, and reduces confusion when several people share similar names.
Issued When You Register
After registration with GHAMRO, the member's IPI number is generated and assigned in line with CISAC standards. This helps their works and rights remain identifiable beyond Ghana.
Professional Names And Pseudonyms
Members who use multiple stage names, professional names, or pseudonyms may have separate IPI name numbers so each creative identity can be properly recognized in music rights systems.
Collaborator Coordination
Creators are encouraged to share their IPI number with publishers, producers, distributors, aggregators, and other collaborators. They should also request collaborators' IPI numbers so all contributions are correctly recorded.
