GHAMRO is firmly committed to the distribution of royalties and ensuring that its members are duly and accurately compensated for the public performance of their musical works at licensed establishments.
GHAMRO also known as Ghana Music Rights Organization is one of the Collective Management Organizations formed out of the Copyright Society of Ghana (COSGA) in 2012 under section 49 of the Copyright law, the auspices of the Attorney General’s Office and the Copyright Office to manage music copyrighted work. It is regulated under the Copyright Legislative Instrument 1962 and mandated by the Copyright Act, 2005 Act 690 to license, collect, and distributes royalties gained from used copyrighted musical works.
A person qualifies to be a music right owner is he or she plays the role as an author (lyricist, composer, performer, arranger, sound recorder) and/or a publisher in the production of a musical work. As a right owner you can only become a member of GHAMRO when you register your works with us and assign your rights to us.
Paying for your music usage licence is good for everyone. It’s good for businesses who enjoy the positive effect that music has on the atmosphere of your establishment.
